If public service calls, Berkeley’s law school says it will pick up tab

Here’s an article on Berkeley’s debt forgiveness program for students who plan on working in the public sector. The school will pick up the tab for up to $100,000 in student loans. That’s amazing. I don’t know if all law schools have similar programs. Even if they did, they’re probably not as generous as Berkeley’s.

Berkeley’s program sounds pretty good. UVA has a similar program (UVA Loan Forgiveness). If you work in public service and earn less than $35k per year, they pay 100% of your loan payments for the year. I believe there is no limit, as long as you have a qualifying job and meet the income requirements (spousal income is included in the calculation).
