Here’s an article on Berkeley’s debt forgiveness program for students who plan on working in the public sector. The school will pick up the tab for up to $100,000 in student loans. That’s amazing. I don’t know if all law schools have similar programs. Even if they did, they’re probably not as generous as Berkeley’s.

Berkeley’s program sounds pretty good. UVA has a similar program (UVA Loan Forgiveness). If you work in public service and earn less than $35k per year, they pay 100% of your loan payments for the year. I believe there is no limit, as long as you have a qualifying job and meet the income requirements (spousal income is included in the calculation).
