Recycling for profits

Last fall I decided to start taking our aluminum cans to a recycle center that pays instead of the near by one that doesn’t. I figured it would be an easy way to earn money. Whenever I found cans at school or on the street I would collect them. It kind of embarrassed my wife.

Well, yesterday, I decided it was time to cash in. The only center that I could find that pays for aluminum was on the other side of town. I called and asked how much they pay. There response? $.40 a pound. I probably had about five pounds of aluminum, so I would make $2. The trip over to the center would cost more than that in gas. I decided that recycling for profit wasn’t probably a good idea. I guess I’ll have to keep doing it for altruistic reasons.

There are other products that you can recycle and make profits at. I have heard that recycling printer cartridges makes really good money as they usually cost a lot of money and most people just throw the away.
